Walking Through Woods

You know that smell when you crush bay leaves between your fingers and the oils stick to your skin for hours? This is that—but wilder, woodsier, from the actual North American bayberry shrub that grows along the coast. Not the bay leaf in your spice cabinet. Different plant entirely.

We harvest bayberry from our farm in Kent Island, Maryland, then distill it in our Owings Mills facility. Steam rises through fresh bayberry leaves and branches, carrying the scent molecules up and out until they condense back into water. What's left is this amber-tinted mist that smells like October woods after rain—earthy, a little spicy, slightly waxy from the natural coating on bayberry leaves.

What Makes Our Bayberry Leaf Flower Water Special?

  • Farm-distilled in Maryland: We harvest bayberry from our Maryland farm and steam-distill it in Owings Mills. Steam passes through fresh bayberry leaves and branches, carrying the scent molecules up into a condenser where they settle into this amber-tinted mist. Small batches, checked by hand.
  • Two ingredients only: Bayberry distillate and aspen bark extract — the preservative. No fragrance added, no fillers, no water dilution.
  • Hydrosol, not perfume: This is the water produced during steam distillation — gentle plant essence, not concentrated fragrance oil. The scent is present at application and fades naturally. That's how hydrosols work.
  • Multiple uses: Face mist after cleansing before moisturizer. Body spray after showering. Hair refresher between washes. Room spray when you want the space to smell like forest without burning something.
  • Different from bayberry candles: Candles use the waxy coating on bayberry fruit — sweeter, heavier. This is distilled from the leaves and branches: earthier, greener, less sweet.

Keep it away from direct sunlight and heat — hydrosols last longer stored cool and out of the light.

How to Use: Face: Spray after washing, before moisturizer or facial oil. Body: Mist onto skin while still slightly damp after showering. Hair: Spray into your hairbrush or directly onto dry hair when it needs refreshing. Room: A few pumps in any space you want to smell like woods. Use within six months of opening. External use only. Discontinue if irritation occurs.
