Lavender Fields. Fresh Mint. Soft Woods.
You walk through a lavender farm in Provence and crush a few stems between your fingers. That oil on your hands—earthy, clean, green—that's what this smells like.
French Lavender isn't grandma's lavender sachet. It's actual lavender flowers with fresh mint running through it. Peppermint and spearmint, not toothpaste. There's wood underneath—patchouli, soft musk—that keeps it grounded. Lily and green herb stems add freshness without being sharp.
People who say they don't like lavender because it smells "old" burn this one. It smells like a garden, not a closet.
What Makes Our French Lavender Soy Candle Special?
- Scent Profile: Lavender, peppermint, spearmint, lily, patchouli, soft woods, green herbs.
- 100% American-Grown Soy Wax: Soy burns cleaner than paraffin — no streaks on your walls, no petrochemicals in the air. Every batch is hand-poured in our Owings Mills, Maryland facility and checked before it ships.
- 30-Hour Burn, 6oz Jelly Jar: Cotton wick, no phthalates, no dyes, no synthetic colors. The jar is reusable — bobby pins, vitamins, spare buttons, small things that need a container.
- Year-Round: Popular for bedrooms but people burn it everywhere — bathrooms, offices, living rooms. Good lavender works anywhere.
Keep one on the nightstand and one at the desk.
How to Use: Trim the wick to ¼ inch before the first light. Let the wax melt edge to edge on that first burn — about an hour — to prevent tunneling. Keep individual burns to 1.5 hours maximum and let the candle cool completely before moving it. When roughly ½ inch of wax remains, retire the candle, wash the jar with hot soapy water, and put it to use.

French Lavender Soy Candle FAQs
What does the French Lavender candle smell like?
French Lavender smells like crushing fresh lavender stems between your fingers in a Provence garden — earthy, clean, and green rather than soft or sweet. The dominant note is real lavender, with peppermint and spearmint running through it to keep things crisp and bright. Lily and green herbs add freshness, while patchouli, soft woods, and a light musk at the base give the scent grounding so it doesn't feel thin or sharp. It reads as garden-fresh herbal lavender, not the dried-flower or sachet version most people associate with the word.
Does this smell like "grandma's lavender" or an old-fashioned sachet?
No, and that's deliberate. Most lavender candles fail because they lean on dusty, powdery, dried-flower notes — the closet sachet effect. French Lavender was built around the way the live plant actually smells: green, herbal, a little minty, with woods underneath. People who say they don't like lavender because it smells "old" or "musty" tend to make an exception for this one. It smells like a lavender garden in bloom, not a drawer liner. If lavender usually means "no thanks" for you, this is the version worth trying.
Is this a good candle for sleep, relaxation, or a bedroom?
Yes, it's one of our most popular bedroom and nightstand candles. Lavender has a long-standing association with rest and calm, and the herbal-mint profile of this candle keeps the scent feeling soothing without going cloying or heavy. It's also a strong fit for bathrooms (especially before a bath), home offices when you need to settle in, and anywhere you want the room to feel calmer. We hear from customers who keep one on the nightstand and one at the desk — burned for an hour or so before bed or during a wind-down routine. Note: this is a fragrance candle, not aromatherapy with essential oils.
Does French Lavender candle use real lavender essential oil?
Yes. French Lavender is one of the few candles in our line that uses a blend of real lavender essential oil and phthalate-free fragrance oil rather than fragrance oil alone. Most scents need fragrance oils to come through cleanly in soy wax — raw essential oils don't always hold up to heat — but lavender and citrus are exceptions where natural sources work. The result: a scent that reads as garden-fresh lavender and mint, not synthetic or perfume-counter. If you're sensitive to fully-synthetic candle fragrances, this is one to try.
How long do the candles burn?
Our 6oz jelly jar candles have about a 30-hour burn time. To get the full 30 hours, keep individual burns to 1.5 hours maximum and trim the cotton wick to ¼ inch before every light. On the first burn, let the wax melt edge to edge — about an hour — to prevent tunneling down the middle. When roughly ½ inch of wax remains in the jar, retire the candle. Always let it cool fully before moving it, and burn on a heat-safe surface, away from drafts, pets, and anything flammable.
Are these candles clean-burning and non-toxic?
Yes. Our jelly jar candles are made with 100% American-grown soy wax, a phthalate-free fragrance oil, and a 100% cotton wick. Soy burns cleaner than paraffin — no soot ring on your ceiling, no petrochemicals released into the air. There are no dyes, no synthetic colors, and no phthalates. Every batch is hand-poured in our Owings Mills, Maryland facility and inspected before it ships. Safe to burn in kitchens, bedrooms, home offices, or any room you actually spend time in.
How do I get the longest, cleanest burn out of my candle?
Three things make the biggest difference. First, trim the cotton wick to ¼ inch before every light — long wicks cause smoke and uneven burning. Second, on your first burn, let the wax pool reach the edges of the jar (about an hour) so the candle doesn't tunnel down the middle. Third, keep individual burns to 1.5 hours maximum and let the candle cool completely before moving it. Burn on a heat-safe surface, away from drafts, pets, and anything flammable. Retire the candle when about ½ inch of wax remains.
What can I do with the jelly jar once the candle is finished?
Reuse it. Once the wax is gone, wash the 6oz jelly jar with hot soapy water and put it back to work. It's the right size for sugar, tea bags, paper clips, hair ties, bobby pins, spare buttons, loose change, jewelry, or as a small votive holder for tea lights. Some customers use them as bud vases or tiny salt cellars on the kitchen counter. We're not big on single-use anything, and the jars are too solid to throw out.
