Shine Without the Stick

There's lip gloss that lives in your bag and never gets used because it's too sticky, too thick, or tastes like chemicals. Then there's this one—the one that smells like candied lemon, sweet and bright. The one that makes your lips shinier without making them feel like you coated them in syrup.

No color. Just shine and moisture. Apricot oil and shea butter that soak in instead of sitting on top. Lemon oil that tastes sweet and clean, like lemon that's been sugared.

What Makes Our Lemon Lip Gloss Special?

  • Organic lemon 5-fold oil: Sweet and bright — not the sharp, sour version of lemon. Tastes like lemon that's been sugared. Present on application and pleasant enough that people reapply without thinking about it.
  • Apricot kernel oil and organic shea butter: Apricot kernel oil is lightweight and absorbs readily; shea butter adds body to the formula without making it feel heavy. Combined with castor oil, the texture goes on smooth and doesn't build up with reapplication.
  • Beeswax: Gives the formula its structure in the tin and contributes to the shine on application. No petroleum, no synthetic ingredients.
  • No color, no dye: Just shine. Works over bare lips, over lip tint when you want both color and gloss, or as a base before lipstick.
  • Glass tin, not plastic: Recyclable glass packaging. Fits in a pocket. Apply with a finger — dip and swipe.
  • Small batch, Owings Mills: Made by hand in our Maryland facility, checked for scent and texture before it ships.

Pairs with the Bee Inspired Lip Tints — apply the tint first, then this over the top for added shine.

How to Use: Dip a finger into the tin and swipe across lips. Use over bare lips, over tint, or as a base layer before lipstick. Reapply as needed — it doesn't build up. Store in your bag, not a hot car — real shea butter and plant oils will melt in high heat. Use within six months of opening and store away from direct sunlight. External use only. Discontinue if irritation occurs.

Lemon Lip Gloss FAQs

What does this Lemon Lip Gloss taste like?

Sweet candied lemon, not sharp lemonade. The lemon 5-fold oil comes through as the sugary, bright side of lemon, closer to lemon meringue than lemon juice. There's no sourness, no chemical aftertaste, just a present, pleasant flavor you actually want to taste while you're wearing it. People reapply more often than they planned to because the flavor doesn't get tiresome, and they end up with softer lips by the end of the day.

Does this gloss have color or just shine?

Just shine. This is a clear gloss, no dye, no pigment, no shimmer. It works over bare lips when you want moisture and a polished finish, over a lip tint when you want both color and gloss, or as a hydrating base before lipstick. The clear formula means it works with any color you wear, any time of year, on any occasion. If you want color, layer it over our Bee Inspired Lip Tints.

What is "lemon 5-fold oil" and why use it?

Five-fold oil is a more concentrated form of lemon essential oil, processed to bring out the sweet, bright top notes while leaving the sharper, more bitter compounds behind. The result is a pure, candied-lemon flavor that reads as sugary rather than acidic, and that holds up well in a butter-and-oil base. It's the same kind of citrus oil used in fine baking, where you want the lemon to taste like fresh zest, not pucker-inducing juice.

Can I wear this with lip tints or lipstick?

Yes, both ways. Apply Bee Inspired Lip Tint first for color, then swipe the gloss over the top for shine. The clear formula doesn't shift the tint's color or feel cakey on top. You can also use it as a hydrating base layer before lipstick to keep your lips from drying out underneath, then blot lightly before applying color. Or wear it solo for a no-makeup makeup look.

Why glass packaging instead of plastic tubes?

Glass keeps oils and butters stable, recycles cleanly, and pairs better with the natural formulas inside. The tin is small enough to slip into a pocket or bag. You apply with a clean fingertip, which uses less product than a wand or stick applicator and keeps the rest of the jar from getting contaminated. When the gloss, balm, or scrub runs out, the glass washes clean and recycles through standard curbside programs. No throwaway plastic, no leftover residue.

How do I apply these lip products?

Dip and swipe with a clean fingertip. Glosses and balms go on directly. For the lip scrub, scoop a small amount, massage gently in circles, then rinse. A little goes a long way across the line, since your body temperature softens the formula on contact. Wash your hands before reapplying if you've been handling food or other surfaces. The anhydrous formulas stay preservative-free as long as nothing introduces water or bacteria into the tin.

How should I store these lip products?

Keep them in your bag, on a counter, in a drawer, anywhere that stays cooler than a hot car or sunny windowsill. Real shea butter, beeswax, and plant oils will melt in high heat, and direct sunlight breaks down the natural ingredients faster than darker storage. If a tin gets warm and the texture shifts, let it cool at room temperature and the formula will firm back up. Use within six months of opening for best texture and scent.

Where are these made?

Hand-poured in small batches at our Owings Mills, Maryland facility. Every batch gets checked for scent, texture, and finish before it ships. The same beeswax that goes into our candles goes into our lip products, and the same honey we jar for tea goes into the formulas that call for it. Nothing here is mass-produced or contracted out. Kara and a small team make every batch on-site.
