The Drama Queen of Teas
This tea doesn’t just sit there—it demands attention. It’s bold, it’s vibrant, and it’s here to make your other teas look boring.
Hibiscus flowers steal the show, turning your water a deep, almost-magenta purple that screams “look at me.” The flavor? Tart, like cranberry juice with a sharp little kick. Rooibos steps in to smooth things out with its earthy sweetness, and then the berries take over—currants, elderberries, cranberries, all doing their juicy thing. Rosehips add an extra tangy punch, and the whole brew ends up looking like wine but tasting like a fruity tea masterpiece.
What Makes Our Midnight Berry Tea Special?
- Real Berries in the Blend: Currants, elderberries, and cranberries are visible in every jar — not just listed on the label. You're tasting actual fruit, not flavoring approximating fruit.
- That Color Is All Hibiscus: The deep purple-magenta brew comes entirely from hibiscus flowers. No dyes, no coloring agents. Impressive in a clear mug, genuinely dramatic in a glass pitcher with ice.
- Tart and Smooth in the Same Cup: Hibiscus and rosehips bring a sharp cranberry-like tartness. Rooibos pulls it back toward balance with an earthy, mellow base. The two work together rather than competing.
- Caffeine-Free, Any Time: No tea leaves — just flowers, berries, and rooibos. Brew a full pot at 9pm, serve it to kids, or drink three cups in an afternoon. It won't interfere with sleep.
- Hot or Iced: Hot, it's warming and berry-forward. Iced, it tastes like serious fruit punch — without the sugar load or artificial flavor of anything from a jug.
- Small-Batch from Owings Mills: Blended, packaged in glass, and quality-checked at our Maryland facility before it ships. The recyclable glass jar is airtight and keeps the hibiscus color and berry flavor intact longer than a paper packet would.
- Mix & Match Discount: Buy any 3 or more jars of tea and save 15%.
Each 3.2 oz jar makes approximately 20 cups — though it tends to disappear faster than expected once people see what it looks like in a glass.

Midnight Berry Tea FAQs
What does Midnight Berry tea taste like?
Tart and smooth in the same cup. Hibiscus and rosehips lead with a sharp, cranberry-like tartness, similar to unsweetened cranberry juice. The rooibos base smooths the middle with a mellow, earthy sweetness, and the dried currants, elderberries, and cranberries carry through at the finish. If you want it sweeter, a drizzle of honey rounds the tartness without masking it. Iced, it tastes like serious fruit punch with none of the sugar load.
Why does Midnight Berry tea turn purple?
That's hibiscus. The pigments in hibiscus flowers, called anthocyanins, react with water to produce a deep red-purple color. No dye, no food coloring, nothing artificial. The shade can shift slightly depending on your water's mineral content, but the color is entirely natural. In a clear mug, it's striking. In a glass pitcher with ice, it looks like sangria. People pull this one out for parties just for what it looks like in the glass.
Is Midnight Berry tea caffeinated?
No. The blend is built on hibiscus flowers, rooibos, rosehips, and dried berries. None of those contain caffeine. There's no black tea, no green tea, no mate. You can drink Midnight Berry at 10pm and it will not keep you awake. That's part of why we named it the way we did. It's a popular evening choice in households where someone wants something fruity and warm without the buzz.
Can I cold brew Midnight Berry or use it in recipes?
Both, and it shines either way. To cold brew, add 2 tablespoons per 16oz of cold water and refrigerate overnight. The result is smoother and less tart than hot-brewed. For recipes, brew double-strength and use the liquid as a base for syrups, popsicles, poaching liquid for fruit, or mocktails and punches. The color holds beautifully in most applications, and the hibiscus tartness balances against sugar in sweet preparations.
Does it contain any allergens?
Midnight Berry Tea is gluten-free, vegan, and dye-free. However, not all of our ingredients come from gluten-free certified suppliers, so we cannot guarantee the blend is suitable for those with celiac disease or severe gluten sensitivity. If you have specific allergen concerns, contact us before ordering.
Do you offer a discount on multiple jars of tea?
Yes. Mix and match any 3 or more jars from our tea collection and save 15% at checkout. The discount applies whether you're stocking your own cabinet, splitting jars with a few friends, or putting together a gift set. Our blends are packaged in small batches in Owings Mills, Maryland, and the variety holds up well over time when stored properly. Try a few. They play well together.
How should I store loose leaf tea?
Keep the jar sealed and store it in a cool, dark cabinet away from the stove, the fridge, and anything strongly scented. Tea absorbs odors easily, and light and heat dull the flavor over time. Skip the fridge entirely. Condensation does no favors to dried leaves or flowers. Stored properly in its glass jar, your tea stays fresh and full-flavored for a year or more.
Are your teas vegan?
Yes. None of our teas contain honey, dairy, or any animal-derived ingredients. Every blend is plant-based: tea leaves, herbs, flowers, dried fruit, and spices. If you add honey from our shop to your cup, that's no longer vegan since honey is an animal product, but the loose leaf tea on its own is. The same goes for milk or cream you might add yourself. The jar is vegan. What you do with it is up to you.
