The Tea That Feels Like a Walk Through an Apple Orchard

This isn’t apple cider—it’s better. The tea you pull out when someone asks for cider and you want to impress them with something cozier, more complex, and just plain delicious.

Rooibos sets the stage with its naturally sweet, earthy base (and no caffeine, so it’s an all-day, all-night kind of tea). Real dried apple pieces bring the crisp, juicy flavor of actual apples—none of that fake candy nonsense. And cinnamon? Oh, it’s there, warming things up like a crackling fire on a chilly day. To top it all off, calendula petals float in your cup like a sprinkle of marigold magic.

What Makes Our Cider & Spice Tea Special?

  • Real apple pieces, not flavoring: The apple flavor comes from actual dried apple fruit pieces in the blend — no artificial flavoring, no added sugar. The natural sweetness from the apple and rooibos means most people don't need to add anything to the cup.
  • Rooibos base for a smooth, non-bitter brew: Rooibos is naturally caffeine-free and doesn't turn bitter the way black or green tea can if you steep it a minute too long. It gives the blend a mellow foundation that lets the apple and cinnamon come through clearly.
  • Caffeine-free, anytime: No caffeine means morning, afternoon, or evening — and it's shareable with anyone who avoids caffeine. Brew it at 9pm. Give it to the kids. No adjustments needed.
  • Four clean ingredients: Cinnamon, apple fruit pieces, rooibos, and calendula petals. Gluten-free blend. Packaged in a recyclable glass jar, small-batch blended in Owings Mills, MD.
  • Hot or iced, both work: Brew it warm on a cold morning or steep it double-strength and pour it over ice in July. The apple and cinnamon hold up either way.
  • 20 servings per jar: Each 3.6 oz jar brews approximately 20 cups at the standard 1 teaspoon per 8 oz ratio. Mix & match 3 or more tea jars and save 15%.

If you want a tea that actually smells like October when you open the jar, this is the one.

Brewing Instructions: Brew at 206°F with 1 tsp per 8oz, steep 5–7 mins, strain. Add honey and a cinnamon stick for sweetness. For iced tea, brew double-strength, cool, and serve over ice with apple slices. For a latte, add steamed milk, honey, and a pinch of cinnamon. For mulled tea, brew strong, warm with apple juice, cloves, and cinnamon (don’t boil). Store sealed, cool, and dark.

All of our teas are gluten-free, although not all of our teas, botanicals, and other ingredients come from gluten-free certified suppliers.

Cider & Spice Apple Cinnamon Tea FAQs

What does Cider & Spice tea taste like?

Apple and cinnamon, in that order. Real apple from dried fruit pieces, not flavoring, and cinnamon that adds warmth without taking over the cup. The rooibos base is smooth and slightly earthy with its own natural sweetness, so most people find the cup doesn't need a thing added. It tastes like mulled cider, simplified. The calendula petals are mostly visual, a sprinkle of marigold confetti floating on top, and don't change the flavor.

Is Cider & Spice tea caffeinated?

No. The base is South African rooibos, which is naturally caffeine-free. Rooibos isn't actually a tea plant. It's a legume. Either way, no caffeine. Brew it in the morning, in the afternoon, or right before bed without it affecting your sleep. It's a popular evening choice in households where someone misses the ritual of a hot drink after dinner but doesn't want to be wired at midnight.

Can I make this as a latte or mulled tea?

Both work. For a latte, brew at the standard strength, then add steamed milk or warmed oat milk, a drizzle of honey, and a pinch of cinnamon on top. For mulled, brew it strong and warm it on the stove with apple juice, a cinnamon stick, and a few cloves. Don't let it boil. Heat gently for about 10 minutes and serve in mugs. It's the cider you didn't know you wanted.

Can I use Cider & Spice tea in recipes?

Yes, and it's worth keeping a jar in the kitchen for this reason alone. Brew it double-strength and use it anywhere you'd want apple and cinnamon in liquid form. A base for sangria. A poaching liquid for pears or apples. The liquid stirred into oatmeal instead of water. Brewed strong, it can also stand in for water in cupcakes, muffins, or quick breads. Always brew on the strong side so the flavor holds once it's mixed into something else.

Do you offer a discount on multiple jars of tea?

Yes. Mix and match any 3 or more jars from our tea collection and save 15% at checkout. The discount applies whether you're stocking your own cabinet, splitting jars with a few friends, or putting together a gift set. Our blends are packaged in small batches in Owings Mills, Maryland, and the variety holds up well over time when stored properly. Try a few. They play well together.

How should I store loose leaf tea?

Keep the jar sealed and store it in a cool, dark cabinet away from the stove, the fridge, and anything strongly scented. Tea absorbs odors easily, and light and heat dull the flavor over time. Skip the fridge entirely. Condensation does no favors to dried leaves or flowers. Stored properly in its glass jar, your tea stays fresh and full-flavored for a year or more.

Why loose leaf instead of tea bags?

Tea bags are typically filled with broken leaf and tea dust. Quick to brew, fast to turn bitter, limited in flavor complexity. Loose leaf gives the leaves and ingredients room to unfurl and release their character gradually. You also get to see exactly what's in the jar, whether that's whole flowers, real dried fruit, or full leaves. It's a small change in how you brew. The cup tells the difference.

Are your teas vegan?

Yes. None of our teas contain honey, dairy, or any animal-derived ingredients. Every blend is plant-based: tea leaves, herbs, flowers, dried fruit, and spices. If you add honey from our shop to your cup, that's no longer vegan since honey is an animal product, but the loose leaf tea on its own is. The same goes for milk or cream you might add yourself. The jar is vegan. What you do with it is up to you.
