Place in the Sun smells like earl grey steeped with bergamot, then mixed with grapefruit and strawberries. There's a fizz to it—like champagne bubbles or tonic water over ice. Honey sweetness underneath. Fresh mint at the edges.
It doesn't smell like one thing. It smells like summer tastes. The kind of scent that makes you want to open windows and make plans.
People burn it year-round even though we call it seasonal. Turns out summer doesn't have to end if you don't want it to.

How to Use: Trim the wick to ¼ inch before the first light. Let the wax melt edge to edge on that first burn — about an hour — to prevent tunneling. Keep individual burns to 1.5 hours maximum and let the candle cool completely before moving it. When roughly ½ inch of wax remains, retire the candle, wash the jar with hot soapy water, and put it to use.

It smells like summer tastes. The scent layers earl grey tea and bergamot with grapefruit, strawberry, and a champagne-like fizz, finished with honey sweetness and fresh mint at the edges. Think of that first sip of iced tea with lemon on a hot afternoon — bright, citrusy, and a little effervescent. The scent shifts as it burns: tea notes when you first light it, fruit once it's been going a while, and mint when you blow it out. It's not a one-note candle, which is part of why people keep coming back to it.
The vessel and the burn time. Both are the same soy wax, the same cotton wick, and the same fragrance. This one is a 6oz glass jelly jar with a metal lid and about a 30-hour burn. French Lavender Luxe is a 10oz smoke glass tumbler with about a 75-hour burn. Start with the jelly jar if you are new to the scent. Move to the Luxe if you burn it most nights.
About 30 hours for the 6oz jelly jar. To get the full 30, keep individual burns to 1.5 hours maximum and trim the cotton wick to ¼ inch before every light. Retire the candle when roughly ½ inch of wax remains in the jar.
Burn it whenever you want. We call Place in the Sun a summer fragrance because the scent profile — citrus, tea, fizz, mint — leans bright and warm-weather. But honestly, plenty of customers light it in February when they need a reminder that the sun still exists. It's especially nice in a kitchen, a bathroom, or anywhere you want a little lift. Summer doesn't have to end if you don't want it to.
100% American-grown soy wax, a phthalate-free fragrance oil, and a 100% cotton wick. Soy burns cleaner than paraffin. There are no dyes, no synthetic colors, and no phthalates. Every batch is hand-poured in our Owings Mills, Maryland facility and inspected before it ships.
Three things make the biggest difference. First, trim the cotton wick to ¼ inch before every light. Long wicks cause smoke and uneven burning. Second, on your first burn, let the wax pool reach the edges of the jar, about an hour, so the candle doesn’t tunnel down the middle. Third, keep individual burns to 1.5 hours maximum and let the candle cool completely before moving it. Burn on a heat-safe surface, away from drafts, pets, and anything flammable.

Reuse it. Once the wax is gone, wash the 6oz jelly jar with hot soapy water and put it back to work. It’s the right size for sugar, tea bags, paper clips, hair ties, bobby pins, spare buttons, loose change, jewelry, or a tea light. Some customers use them as bud vases or tiny salt cellars on the kitchen counter. We’re not big on single-use anything, and the jars are too solid to throw out.
