Sunshine in a Jar. No SPF Required.
This isn’t your typical “tropical vacation in a jar” nonsense. Nope. This is sunshine. The kind that streams through your window on a lazy late morning, warming everything it touches and making life feel just a little bit sweeter.
What Makes Our Place in the Sun Body Butter Special?
- Fruity-herbal essential oil blend: Bright and clean — fruity without reading as tropical or candy-sweet, herbal without being sharp. The scent is strongest for the first thirty minutes, then settles into something faint that carries on skin.
- Organic cocoa butter base: Lighter in texture than shea butter alone, which keeps the formula from feeling heavy after it absorbs. Combined with sweet almond oil and coconut oil, the formula absorbs in twenty to thirty seconds without leaving a film.
- Sweet almond oil and coconut oil: Almond oil sinks in without leaving shine; coconut oil adds richness. The combination keeps the formula from sitting on the surface after application.
- Real honey: Bee Inspired honey goes into the formula alongside the fragrance.
- 90% natural ingredients: Mostly oils, butters, water, and honey. Contains preservatives to maintain shelf stability.
- Hand-poured in Owings Mills: Made in small batches in our Maryland facility, checked for consistency and scent strength before it ships.
Pair it with the Place in the Sun Body Scrub — use the scrub first, then apply this butter on slightly damp skin to extend the scent.
How to Use: After showering, pat dry but leave skin slightly damp. Scoop a quarter-sized amount and warm it between your palms until it softens. Apply to arms, legs, shoulders, anywhere that needs it — rub in until the shine disappears, about twenty to thirty seconds. Use within six months of opening and store away from heat and direct sunlight. External use only. Discontinue if irritation occurs.

Place in the Sun Body Butter FAQs
What does Place in the Sun body butter smell like?
Bright and fruity with an herbal edge. The scent reads as fresh fruit warmed by morning light, not tropical resort and not artificial berry candy. The first thirty minutes after applying, the scent is at its strongest. After that, it settles into something faint that carries on your skin for a few hours. People who like crisp, sunny scents tend to wear it year-round. People who tested it expecting something tropical were surprised it leans cleaner than expected.
Is this scented with essential oils or fragrance oil?
Fragrance oil. The Place in the Sun scent is a custom blend designed to read as bright and fruity-herbal, which is hard to achieve with essential oils alone. The fragrance is phthalate-free and skin-safe, paired with real honey, sweet almond oil, coconut oil, and organic cocoa butter in the base. Some of our other lines lean on essential oils where the scent profile allows for it. This one was built to capture a specific summer-fruit feeling that natural oils alone don't quite hit.
How is this different from the Nectar+Honey body butter?
Same base, different scent direction. Both use organic cocoa butter, sweet almond oil, and real Bee Inspired honey, and both whip up to a medium-weight texture that absorbs in twenty to thirty seconds. The difference is what they smell like. Nectar+Honey reads as warm and softly sweet, like honey in tea. Place in the Sun reads as bright and fruity-herbal, like blueberries and morning light. If you want something soothing, choose Nectar+Honey. If you want something bright and a little uplifting, choose this one.
Can I layer this with the Place in the Sun body scrub?
Yes, and the line was built for it. Use the scrub in the shower while your skin is warm. Rinse, pat dry but leave skin slightly damp, then apply the butter while pores are still open. Both products share the same fragrance, so the scent layers cleanly instead of fighting whatever soap or shampoo you used. Most people use the scrub one or two times a week and the butter daily. The pairing extends the scent on skin and makes the texture difference more noticeable.
How do you apply body butter for best results?
Apply right after showering while your skin is still slightly damp. Scoop a small amount, warm it between your palms until it softens, then work it into skin in circular motions. The damp-skin step matters because warm, slightly wet skin lets the oils absorb faster and locks in more moisture. Concentrate on rough spots like heels, elbows, and knees. The whole thing should sink in within twenty to sixty seconds depending on the formula. If your skin still looks shiny after a minute, you used too much.
Will body butter leave my skin feeling greasy?
Not the way these are formulated. The texture is dense in the jar but built to melt on contact with warm skin and absorb in twenty to thirty seconds. You can apply, get dressed, and not transfer butter onto your shirt. The trick is using less than you think you need. A quarter-sized scoop covers arms or legs. If your skin still looks shiny after a minute, scale back next time. Most people find one jar lasts longer than expected once they get the amount right.
How should I store body butter and how long does it last?
Keep the jar away from direct sunlight and heat. A bathroom shelf is fine; a sunny windowsill is not. Once you open a jar, use it within six months for best texture and scent. Body butters can soften in summer heat and firm up when it's cold. Both are normal. If yours melts in a hot car, let it set back up at room temperature and stir if needed. The formula is still good, just briefly less photogenic.
