Coastal Breeze smells like a porch near the ocean in early summer — salt air mixed with garden flowers and wild mint. The top notes are bergamot and sea salt, that citrus-ocean combo you actually get near the shore. Peony and mint sit in the middle to keep things green and fresh, while juniper and a light musk underneath give the scent some weight without making it feel heavy. It's clean and fresh, but it doesn't smell like laundry detergent or shampoo. Marine notes are present but subtle, not the dominant story.

No, and that's intentional. Most candles labeled "ocean breeze" or "fresh linen" lean heavily on synthetic marine and detergent notes — the car-wash-soap effect. Coastal Breeze was built around the idea of an actual coast: salt, citrus, real florals, herbs, a little wood. People who normally avoid ocean-scented candles because they smell artificial tend to like this one. If you want a candle that evokes a specific seaside porch rather than a generic "beachy" idea, this is the closer match.

Our 6oz jelly jar candles have about a 30-hour burn time. To get the full 30 hours, keep individual burns to 1.5 hours maximum and trim the cotton wick to ¼ inch before every light. On the first burn, let the wax melt edge to edge — about an hour — to prevent tunneling down the middle. When roughly ½ inch of wax remains in the jar, retire the candle. Always let it cool fully before moving it, and burn on a heat-safe surface, away from drafts, pets, and anything flammable.

Burn it whenever you want. Coastal Breeze leans summery on paper — sea salt, bergamot, mint — but plenty of customers light it in January when they need a five-minute mental trip to the shore. It works especially well in bathrooms, kitchens, and anywhere you'd want windows open in July. We hear from people who burn it during winter weather to break up the heaviness of the season, and from beach-house owners who keep one going as a permanent fixture.

Three things make the biggest difference. First, trim the cotton wick to ¼ inch before every light — long wicks cause smoke and uneven burning. Second, on your first burn, let the wax pool reach the edges of the jar (about an hour) so the candle doesn't tunnel down the middle. Third, keep individual burns to 1.5 hours maximum and let the candle cool completely before moving it. Burn on a heat-safe surface, away from drafts, pets, and anything flammable. Retire the candle when about ½ inch of wax remains.

Reuse it. Once the wax is gone, wash the 6oz jelly jar with hot soapy water and put it back to work. It's the right size for sugar, tea bags, paper clips, hair ties, bobby pins, spare buttons, loose change, jewelry, or as a small votive holder for tea lights. Some customers use them as bud vases or tiny salt cellars on the kitchen counter. We're not big on single-use anything, and the jars are too solid to throw out.
