Smells Like the Moment the Salt Air Hits You
Stand on a porch near the ocean in early summer. The air smells like salt water mixed with flowers from someone's garden and mint growing wild near the fence. That's this candle.
Coastal Breeze has bergamot and sea salt at the top—that citrus-ocean combo you get near the shore. Peony and mint in the middle keep it green and fresh. Juniper and light musk underneath give it weight without making it heavy. It's clean without smelling like laundry detergent.
People who hate typical "ocean breeze" candles because they smell artificial burn this one. It smells like actual coast, not car wash soap.
What Makes Our Coastal Breeze Soy Candle Special?
- Scent Profile: Sea salt, bergamot, peony, mint, juniper, light musk, marine notes.
- 100% American-Grown Soy Wax: Soy burns cleaner than paraffin — no residue on your walls, no petrochemicals in the air. Every batch is hand-poured in our Owings Mills, Maryland facility and checked before it ships.
- 30-Hour Burn, 6oz Jelly Jar: Cotton wick, no phthalates, no dyes, no synthetic colors. The jar is reusable — shells, beach glass, spare keys, whatever needs a spot.
- Spring Through Fall: Popular in summer but people burn it whenever they want to feel like they're near water. Windows open or closed.
This one ships well — a reliable pick for anyone who misses the shore.
How to Use: Trim the wick to ¼ inch before the first light. Let the wax melt edge to edge on that first burn — about an hour — to prevent tunneling. Keep individual burns to 1.5 hours maximum and let the candle cool completely before moving it. When roughly ½ inch of wax remains, retire the candle, wash the jar with hot soapy water, and put it to use.

Coastal Breeze Soy Candle FAQs
What does the Coastal Breeze candle smell like?
Coastal Breeze smells like a porch near the ocean in early summer — salt air mixed with garden flowers and wild mint. The top notes are bergamot and sea salt, that citrus-ocean combo you actually get near the shore. Peony and mint sit in the middle to keep things green and fresh, while juniper and a light musk underneath give the scent some weight without making it feel heavy. It's clean and fresh, but it doesn't smell like laundry detergent or shampoo. Marine notes are present but subtle, not the dominant story.
Does this smell like a typical "ocean breeze" candle from the store?
No, and that's intentional. Most candles labeled "ocean breeze" or "fresh linen" lean heavily on synthetic marine and detergent notes — the car-wash-soap effect. Coastal Breeze was built around the idea of an actual coast: salt, citrus, real florals, herbs, a little wood. People who normally avoid ocean-scented candles because they smell artificial tend to like this one. If you want a candle that evokes a specific seaside porch rather than a generic "beachy" idea, this is the closer match.
How long do the candles burn?
Our 6oz jelly jar candles have about a 30-hour burn time. To get the full 30 hours, keep individual burns to 1.5 hours maximum and trim the cotton wick to ¼ inch before every light. On the first burn, let the wax melt edge to edge — about an hour — to prevent tunneling down the middle. When roughly ½ inch of wax remains in the jar, retire the candle. Always let it cool fully before moving it, and burn on a heat-safe surface, away from drafts, pets, and anything flammable.
Are these candles clean-burning and non-toxic?
Yes. Our jelly jar candles are made with 100% American-grown soy wax, a phthalate-free fragrance oil, and a 100% cotton wick. Soy burns cleaner than paraffin — no soot ring on your ceiling, no petrochemicals released into the air. There are no dyes, no synthetic colors, and no phthalates. Every batch is hand-poured in our Owings Mills, Maryland facility and inspected before it ships. Safe to burn in kitchens, bedrooms, home offices, or any room you actually spend time in.
Can I burn this candle year-round, or just in summer?
Burn it whenever you want. Coastal Breeze leans summery on paper — sea salt, bergamot, mint — but plenty of customers light it in January when they need a five-minute mental trip to the shore. It works especially well in bathrooms, kitchens, and anywhere you'd want windows open in July. We hear from people who burn it during winter weather to break up the heaviness of the season, and from beach-house owners who keep one going as a permanent fixture.
How do I get the longest, cleanest burn out of my candle?
Three things make the biggest difference. First, trim the cotton wick to ¼ inch before every light — long wicks cause smoke and uneven burning. Second, on your first burn, let the wax pool reach the edges of the jar (about an hour) so the candle doesn't tunnel down the middle. Third, keep individual burns to 1.5 hours maximum and let the candle cool completely before moving it. Burn on a heat-safe surface, away from drafts, pets, and anything flammable. Retire the candle when about ½ inch of wax remains.
What can I do with the jelly jar once the candle is finished?
Reuse it. Once the wax is gone, wash the 6oz jelly jar with hot soapy water and put it back to work. It's the right size for sugar, tea bags, paper clips, hair ties, bobby pins, spare buttons, loose change, jewelry, or as a small votive holder for tea lights. Some customers use them as bud vases or tiny salt cellars on the kitchen counter. We're not big on single-use anything, and the jars are too solid to throw out.
