The tube is plant cellulose, a renewable material that breaks down in a backyard compost bin. The whole tube is plastic-free, so when the balm runs out, twist it fully and toss the empty tube into your compost with coffee grounds, vegetable scraps, and other organics. It will break down within a few months in an active pile, longer in passive piles or in cooler weather. It's the same compostability standard you'd find in commercial compostable cutlery, just sized for lip balm.

The crystals act as a gentle physical exfoliant on damp skin, then dissolve as you scrub, leaving honey's natural humectant properties to draw moisture into your skin. Rinse with warm water and you're done. No soap needed after, since honey is naturally antimicrobial and rinses clean. The scrub works without the oil, butter, fragrance, or preservative additions you'd find in most body scrubs on a shelf.

Every body care item, candle, soap, and lollipop in our gift sets is made in our Owings Mills, Maryland facility, and the honey is jarred there from beekeepers we've worked with for years. Some keep apiaries on Maryland's Eastern Shore, others work coffee plantations in Guatemala, sunflower fields in Ukraine, or citrus groves in Florida. The vessels and packaging come from suppliers we've vetted for quality. When you give one of our sets, you're giving things made by the same hands that wrote the labels.

Most of our body care contains honey or beeswax, which makes it vegetarian but not vegan. Body butters often include almond oil, coconut oil, or shea butter, and our lollipops are made with honey and cane sugar. Year-round lollipops are OU Kosher certified, and our Eastern Shore honey is Star-K Kosher certified.
