Vanilla+Citrus Soy Candle

Vanilla+Citrus smells like spilling vanilla extract on the counter next to a bowl of oranges — warm vanilla cut through with bright citrus. The scent is built around real vanilla bean (not bakery-frosting vanilla), with orange and nectarine running across the top and soft florals underneath that keep it from feeling one-dimensional. Coconut at the base adds cream without veering into sunscreen territory. A returning customer described it as "happy and calming" — sweet without being dessert, bright without being cleaning product. It's a quiet, consistent scent that doesn't announce itself from three rooms away.

Real vanilla. Most vanilla candles fail because they lean on the cake-frosting or cupcake version of the scent — sweet, syrupy, and one-note. Vanilla+Citrus is built around actual vanilla bean: warmer, deeper, a little earthy. Orange and nectarine on top keep the sweetness in check, and the coconut base adds cream without crossing into food-candle territory. The citrus and vanilla balance each other — the fruit brightens the vanilla, the vanilla rounds out the fruit. Vanilla+Citrus is one of our most versatile candles — the food-adjacent notes layer naturally with cooking, so it's a strong kitchen pick, but customers burn it everywhere. Bathrooms get the bright citrus lift. Bedrooms and offices get the warmth of the vanilla without anything overwhelming. The scent is intentionally quiet — strong enough to fill a room, soft enough not to fight with food, conversation, or focus. Burn it morning or evening, summer or winter. It adapts to whatever the day is.

Yes. Our jelly jar candles are made with 100% American-grown soy wax, a phthalate-free fragrance oil, and a 100% cotton wick. Soy burns cleaner than paraffin — no soot ring on your ceiling, no petrochemicals released into the air. There are no dyes, no synthetic colors, and no phthalates. Every batch is hand-poured in our Owings Mills, Maryland facility and inspected before it ships. Safe to burn in kitchens, bedrooms, home offices, or any room you actually spend time in.

Our 6oz jelly jar candles have about a 30-hour burn time. To get the full 30 hours, keep individual burns to 1.5 hours maximum and trim the cotton wick to ¼ inch before every light. On the first burn, let the wax melt edge to edge — about an hour — to prevent tunneling down the middle. When roughly ½ inch of wax remains in the jar, retire the candle. Always let it cool fully before moving it, and burn on a heat-safe surface, away from drafts, pets, and anything flammable.

Three things make the biggest difference. First, trim the cotton wick to ¼ inch before every light — long wicks cause smoke and uneven burning. Second, on your first burn, let the wax pool reach the edges of the jar (about an hour) so the candle doesn't tunnel down the middle. Third, keep individual burns to 1.5 hours maximum and let the candle cool completely before moving it. Burn on a heat-safe surface, away from drafts, pets, and anything flammable. Retire the candle when about ½ inch of wax remains.

Reuse it. Once the wax is gone, wash the 6oz jelly jar with hot soapy water and put it back to work. It's the right size for sugar, tea bags, paper clips, hair ties, bobby pins, spare buttons, loose change, jewelry, or as a small votive holder for tea lights. Some customers use them as bud vases or tiny salt cellars on the kitchen counter. We're not big on single-use anything, and the jars are too solid to throw out.
