Issue 23 - March 2025
While we think of the Spring Solstice as the official first day of Spring, meteorologists acknowledge March 1 as the season’s true beginning. Even more inspiring is the wisdom of Chinese Medicine, in which Spring marks the one time of the year we shift from Yin to Yang, the season when Yang energy moves up and out from the center of the body like sap runs upward in trees. In fact, Chinese Medicine marks the beginning of Spring by the date when tree sap begins flowing –usually in the later part of February.
Regardless of the exact date, what matters most to me is that feeling of coming alive that happens every year in March. Even if the weather is still chilly and windy, there’s a certain quality to the sun that coaxes spring bulbs to burst forth—and I feel that same awakening.
This year, I’ve decided to shift my focus and celebration of the year from New Year’s Day to the advent of Spring!
Growing, opening, and achieving feel so much more possible in this season of renewal. I am part of nature, and I’m aligning with it. I choose to live seasonally this year—with real intention.
As the days start earlier and linger longer, gratitude naturally springs forth. Optimism and confidence push their way up through the soil of my consciousness, like flowers reaching for the sun.
I invite you to pause and notice the stirrings within yourself as March beckons you to live with purpose.
It’s the perfect season for becoming who you long to be.
And if you want to fuel yourself with honey—I have some to recommend.
If you want to lavish yourself with body scrubs and lotions—I have some to recommend.
Mostly, if you feel encouraged to breathe deeply, listen to the birdsongs, and notice the buds and tender green leaves around you, I celebrate you and feel proud to be part of your world.
Happy Spring!
