Issue 14 - May 2024

I finally understand at my core, the fierce psyche of the farmer.

It is based on unshakeable hope. I feel that hope this time of year when all is awakening, blooming, singing, and scent-ful. This is the time to pause and refill my own inner vessel with hope for a productive season.

The bees must feel it also. They are already gathering nectar from our meadows. They are busy making the honey to sustain them through the season, and I watch in awe and appreciation. When they have assured their nutrition, they will continue to make honey that we will harvest and offer you – beginning in late June. The excess honey harvest will be nectar from black locust, wildflowers, and lavender. Late Spring in a jar. This is the closest we’ll come to experiencing the world of these amazing creatures.
