  • ½ teaspoon ground cloves
  • 2 teaspoons ground ginger
  • ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg

Cinnamon-Sugar Coating

  • ½ cup raw large-granule sugar (turbinado or demerara work beautifully)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Step-by-Step Instructions

Make the Flax Egg

In a small bowl, stir together 1 tablespoon of ground flaxseed with 3 tablespoons of water. Set it aside for about 5 minutes. It will thicken into a gel that acts as a binder — no eggs needed.

Cream the Butter, Sugar, and Honey
